I really like some of there other candidate mentioned. Sumlin and Leach would both be very intriguing.Justin Wilcox played with my son and he a is a great guy, a duck, and seems to be an excellent coach. All these guys would be good candidates, but here are the reasons Cristabol should be hired now
1)By far the most important reason is to keep this class intact. As we saw with Slick Willie, there is no sense thinking 5 years down the road.Everything is subject change. We have a chance for a program changing class RIGHT NOW. The best way to keep most of them is with Cristabol

2)) The players want him and this is a huge thing. They have respect for him or they would not be pushing for it.Players aren't stupid. They know if he is head coach material. He can concentrate on recruiting rather than keeping the team in tact.

3) Unlike the last guy, Cristabol seems to love Eugene and the program in general. It caught my attention when it was reported after a win this season that Cristabol got in the tunnel leaving the field and put his fist up in the air and said" I love this place!" ( Note to Mullens- STILL NEED A HUGE SHORT TERM BUYOUT FOR WHOEVER IS NAMED COACH -40 million the FIRST YEAR)

4) Keep more coaches that are here. Leavitt might be hurt, but at least some of the other coaches, who have been recruiting and have relationships, will stay.(I would offer Leavitt 2 million per year to try to keep him though)

5) Cristabol was named the top recruiting assistant in the country a couple of years ago. This is the most important attribute needed in coaching in Eugene.

Naming Cristabol before this recruiting weekend would be a huge shot in the arm for momentum for both recruiting and the players already here.I repeat, keeping a top 10 class is the number 1 priority. The truth is ,all of these guys can coach. Its a toss up so take the guy who can keep it rolling
