I am now pretty sure that the track program is asking that commits and recruits keep silent on their
intentions and actions. Other than high jumper Keith Drapeaux, all of the commits that I've been able to find I've had to pretty much beat the bushes to unearth that they have committed.
Tia Jones was listed as a Duck commit on Milesplit and Dyestat. She went to her high school signing ceremony, but she hasn't put anything up on her twitter page about her commiting. She has been unavailable to the press for any interviews. Tia Jones is rated by Track and Field News to be the top girl's track athlete in the class of 2019. Usually that kind of athlete makes big headlines when she commits, but it has almost gone unnoticed that she picked Oregon.
Miya Wilson also hasn't tweeted anything, but her twin sister, Nami went all over the internet making her announcement that she was committing to Kentucky. It was through lots of digging that I found a tweet in their local track club about Miya. I am also pretty certain that a very talented girl has committed but, as yet, hasn't gone public.
Only one guy has committed, and there is almost no news regarding the men's recruiting. You know that Oregon must have been recruiting men. I'll bet that there are some silents there as well.
From some of the rumors and things that I have also noticed, this class might turn out to be pretty competitive. It is clear that the program has asked that the athletes refrain from any public announcements until the University is ready to have a press release. I am pretty sure that Oregon will be getting some, as yet, unannounced solid American commitments, as well as transfers and international student athletes. I wish that we didn't have to wait in silence, but I will post anything that I can find regarding the situation.
