There's a lot going on for 2024 two-way athlete recruit Jason Mitchell II. The Gardena (Calif.) Serra standout junior is trying to help position his team for a playoff run, and he also has added to his school work load within the last month after deciding that he is going to consider making the move to the 2023 class. USC, Oregon and Utah have been the schools most in play for the 6-foot-4 defensive back/receiver/quarterback and he has been able to visit each of those programs in person already.
His dad played at USC, and the feeling has been for a while that he will end up playing for the Trojans in college. Mitchell insists he has not made any decision, and Oregon is one of the schools that has continued to hold his attention. He is family friends with Demetrice Martin, who recruited his cousin Bookie Radley-Hiles, and he also knows several current Ducks players as well.
I talked with him about his interest in Oregon, and he has seen a lot that he likes about the program this fall.
“They got some players that I feel, not have been through the same stuff, but have been through the same level of life I would say. I know their players personally, so I just think they got dogs on their team. Then that always comes with the gear. So, it’s a win-win over there.”
Mitchell hopes to be fully decided on whether or not he will reclassify by the end of the year, but right now he is operating with the idea that this will be his last high school season.
