LB Daniel Green(e)

Does anyone have any recent information about UO's current interest in the former Madison LB? I watched him play Grants Pass the year before last and he was clearly the best LB I saw all year. My recollection is that he committed to USC, but ended up signing w/ Kansas St. and it ended up that wasn't quite able to qualify there, either.

The last I heard was that he didn't play last year, but did take the necessary courses to qualify and now is able to redshirt and has 5 years to play 4 years of D1 ball.

To me, he was just a ball carrier seeking missile and always connected!

A "hopeful" feeling

Re: strength coach. I know Mario really likes Lance Ancar. Can't say anything is done, but was given reason late tonight (late for me!) to believe that it could happen

If you don't know who he is, he is a Scott Cochran (Alabama S&C coach) protege currently working at South Alabama.

Would be a tremendous hire; possibly the most important hire Mario could make.

Not out of the woods yet with Leavitt / Big Joe

Don't be surprised to see Arizona's coaching search have a big Oregon spin to it.

Word on the street is that former Oregon Senior Associate Athletics Director / Chief of Staff and current Arizona AD Dave Heeke is looking hard at Leavitt as HC and ultimately would want to bring in Big Joe as the DC, assuming Leavitt agrees. That said, Tedford and Helfritch are in the mix as well.

Personally I think Sumlin makes the most sense or Matt Wells since his mentor is Dick Tomey, but no matter who it is Big Joe could be in for a big pay raise as the DC.

Edit: Forgot about Miles, who would be Rich Rod 2.0 but a good hire none the less.

Florida will challenge Ducks

I post this to offer perspective regarding one of Oregon's most formidable opponents. In what has been a very friendly rivalry ( the two head coaches are pals) Florida is a consistent threat to walk off with the team trophy. Texas AM is also a consistent powerhouse.

Florida's SI all but predicts a national team title
They will be very formidable competition... but NEVER count out Robert Johnson

CHIP AND MARK TOS

Has Chip officially hired Mark?

This Bruin article states that Chip offered MH the OC job in November but that MH turned him down so as to remain a broadcaster.

Apparently, Chip then tried to get the Redskin's coach to be OC but he got a big raise from Washington, so now Chip has supposedly asked MF again.

The article states that there are several other candidates as well, including Yost.

So...wither goes Mark?
