2019 Rivals250 WR Garrett Wilson

Hey Guys - spoke with Garrett Wilson after his state quarterfinal win on Saturday. Oregon offered him in November, but I suspect there should still be the same level of mutual interest there always had been prior to Taggart leaving. I don't expect him to really be thinking about his recruitment too hard until the spring, as there have been a lot of coaching changes and he could be playing football games right up until Christmas.

There's a silver lining in the decommitments

It's apparent by now that this abrupt regime change will deliver a hit to that #5 recruiting class fans were so excited about.

Four 4-stars have already bolted or reconsidered: Lenzy, Bolden, Harrison and (according to Greg Biggins) Michael Ezeike.

A few more will certainly follow. If Leavitt doesn't stay Adrian Jackson is a likely decommit. The Florida kids are in jeopardy.

It's a daunting challenge for a new coach with early signing day just a couple of weeks away.

The opportunity in all this is that the Ducks new coach faced a serious problem for 2019: just 9 seniors are graduating, and the class looked to be frightfully small, few options to restock, replenish the roster, balance out the depth chart.

It looks almost inevitable that Oregon will sign a smaller class for 2018 than we originally projected, but with attrition and a few holdover scholarships, the retooled staff will have more to work with for their first full recruiting year. They'll be able to come much closer to signing a full class and building a roster that fits their scheme and philosophy.

Now it's up to AD Mullens to sign a head coach with football savvy, vision and commitment.

WT news dwarfed being charged by a Giant Brown Bear.

Hi boys, just got back from a hunting trip in Alaska. Hunting Sitka Blacktail. Super cool trip with 7 buddies staying on a 70 ft. boat.... We had a giant Brown Bear charge us and had to put him to sleep at 20 yards as he was attacking. Not a pleasant experience but a major adrenaline rush. Bear was sick and would have not made it through the winter as he had no body fat..... Enough of that... As I got back into phone service my first message was a twitter feed telling me WT was gone. It totally trumped my Bear experience.. I was so upset I did not respond in fear of being banned from Rival's for life.... I personally think WT approach was chicken shit.. I have no problem with him making the decision that has been in his sites since a young man. But he handled it so poorly and really showed his true colors.... I met MC at the recruit dinner in Portland last year... I have to admit I was way more impressed with his professional, and confident calming presents than anyone in the room... The guy is special. I think the recruits parents feel the same way and know their sons will grow as men around such a special, well disciplined and experience no nonsense guy. I think we have found our coach. He reminds me of Dana Altman. Calm, focused, experience and not a salesman... You don't need to be WT salesman and 1/2 con man to build a great class. Integrity, hard work, focused, lead by example. Thats who we now have running our Football and Basketball teams. I couldn't be happier.
