OT: Correcting error

So, during the early part of the Jim Leavitt will he or won't he saga, I had read his contract and saw a buyout that seemed pretty strong; but there were actually several levels to the buyout which created some confusion on my part.

As someone who does not like to make factual errors, I took this very personally because there was some bad information out there which was my fault. So here is what I discovered on the levels of buyout:

1) If Taggart had never left, but Leavitt had been fired without cause, Oregon would have owed 100% of the remaining contract, this was where the 3.45 million number came from
2) If Oregon had terminated Leavitt's contract after the head coach left, Oregon would have owed Leavitt 100% of the remaining contract OR 12 months whichever is less; that would have been 1.15 million
3) If Oregon had not termed the contract, but Leavitt found another job prior to 1/31/18, the buyout was $500,000
4) If Oregon had not termed the contract, but Leavitt found another job AFTER 1/31/18, the buyout was $250,000

Sorry for the confusion all!

Calling Scott, AJ, Brandon

Hey guys, do any of you know what assistant coaches are either staying or going? I think you know the questions why, based on stabilizing the program, recruiting, etc, etc. If you have that information it would be appreciated. To you three gentleman thanks very much for all you do for DUCKSPORTSAUTHORITY!!. I am glad I subscribe because it's real and a breathe of fresh Duck air.

Mohamed Diallo

Like a lot of posters I'm borderline obsessed about our DLine recruiting. So when Diallo gave his verbal earlier this year my interest was piqued. His listed 6'4 315 certainly looked great on paper, but the story was he was new to football and had a long ways to go. The only highlight tape I saw was two plays long and pretty mundane. This was another one of those trust the coaches situations and honestly I'd almost forgot about him.

Well, his Sophomore tape is in and the veil is off. To me it's absolutely eye-popping how athletic he is. Brandon relayed he's been looking at others a bit, so heres hoping his recent OV to Eugene sealed the deal.

Valid reasons to think this ship is sinking

Yes,its one game, but I have never seen a more destructive loss for the Oregon football .The truth is,this game was a mismatch, and not unlike the games in the 70's where Ducks would take a paycheck to lose 63- 0 to Nebraska. This game could have, and probably should have been 38-0 at halftime. The coaching this game was a mismatch. It look like we again passed on a great Boise state coach to hire a coach who looks to be in way over his head. This game was so ugly I'm sure it will cost us more recruits. If you are a top recruit, would you want to get involved with this mess of a program

Thoughts and fears

1) Guys who choose not to play should be sitting in the stands. Herbie's thoughts were right on the money. Why is the guy bailing on his teammates trying to be the leader?

2) Why is their no accountability for players like Brooks James, costing their team touchdowns with selfish, bonehead plays. Cristobal had the Hefrich, deer in the headlights look the entire game. If MC is in it to be friends with he players, he is done for. Players have run this program ever since Chip left.

3)When players get to pick the coach, they pick guys they like, and not guys they necessarily respect. The offensive line as a group has been the most undisciplined unit on the team all year. This is a lack of leadership, and no accountability. It is why this team leads the nation in penalties. The O line was fat ,out of shape, and weak minded. They made their coach look like an idiot and obviously do NOT respect or fear him.Their buddy became the boss so they mailed it in.

4) Mullens has 2 strikes and Cristobal will be strike 3.Therefore, Mullens will not want to fire MC as he will be firing himself( which I am all for BTW).This is huge. If this ship sinks ,it is all on Mullens.

5)Why is Leavitt talking to the QB on the sidelines. This is a huge deal IMO.It shows me that Leavitt believes that no on the offensive side will do their job .It also shows that Leavitt does not respect MC

6)Why did players and coach's tell us all week that they were ready to play and excited? Why did MC misread his team so bad?

7) Was Cam McCormick still drunk at the game? Don't know if I have ever seen a football player as bad as he was. Were guys partying the night before the game? The whole team looked hung over.

8) Justin Herbert is the first QB I have ever seen take himself out of a Heisman the year before the was supposed to be considered. He was horrible

9) Who are the coaches? This should be known and announced by the end of today. If not,it is a travesty.

My guess is that the recruiting class is going to now fall apart .We shall quickly find out. Regardless,MC is already on the hot seat .Mullens should be fired now, so they can get an A.D who will act quickly if MC is in as far over his head as he looked yesterday.Further bad news is next years schedule. Its is pathetic, and so soft that anyone could have a winning season even being the undisciplined, poorly coached group that I think they are. Are Boise states players THAT much better? So much better that Oregon can't even compete with them? Its hard to believe

I hope to be wrong about all this ,but everything I saw yesterday tells me this thing could really be in trouble

Mullens on Leavitt

From Oregon Live:

"We've showed our commitment last year when we paid $1.15 million. It's funny, I spoke at a luncheon today and the first question I got was, 'Pay him whatever he needs to keep him,' and I said, 'That's interesting, I came here a year ago you said how can you pay $1.15 million for a defensive coordinator and know you're telling me to do whatever I have to do. We want to make sure we do everything we can to convince Jim to stay."

Personally, I think that Mullens is doing a great job with the Athletic Department.

So there!

I've said it !!

LOL!!
