ARROYO

I never want to see anybody lose their job but from a hard, clinical perspective, I don't see how Marcus can keep his.

Sure he didn't throw the pics, etc., but the Offense is his and the buck stops at his desk.

I wrote something like this about a month ago and I believe it even more now.

His play calling is baffling to me most of the time. Fourth down is particularly irksome to me. I know that we want to be a smash-mouth hard-ass team that can blow through the middle of the line and get a first down anytime we need a yard, but the evidence this year points out that we are not yet that team.

So, do something different and get a freaking yard!

When the run game is working, don't keep going away from it.

AND....we have a potential first-round NFL pick, used to be Heisman Trophy Candidate Senior at QB and he plays the 11th game of the season like a high schooler.

There can be no doubt the Herbert has regressed. I love him to death and wish nothing but the best for the kid, but, man, he needs a QB coach that knows what he is doing.

IMHO, Herbert's play is on the QB coach and not on Herbert so much. As I wrote before either Herbert is not very smart or his coaching is not very good.

No way that I believe the Herbert is not smart...so.....

I never thought that I'd ever say this, but can we get Ludwig back?

DSA Tailgate: 11.7 CIVIL WAR EDITION

Good news; thanks to a good friend of DSA, we will be tailgating in the Autzen Parking lot; easy to find space 6543 in the East lot.

We wanted to do up some good stuff for this so are hoping people show; my specialty hand-crafted burgers; maybe some Thanksgiving leftovers from the Reed house. My wife will be able to make this game so she is also very excited.

Look, I know that people are disappointed with the loss last week - but this is still CIVIL WAR week and it's time to come together, share some food, some drinks, talk about some of the HUGE visitors that will be here.

With the heavy snow that has pounded the pass - we will still be there; got the studded tires put on today and we will be at the space by 9AM ready to go.

I will have a TV there to watch whatever might be on and it will be a great time. Even if you cannot get into the game - if you're in town come and say hello!

What: DSA Tailgate
When: 9:00am-1:00pm
Where: Autzen Stadium, East Parking lot
Space: 6543 (pretty close to the baseball field area)
Food, drinks, television and talk

Battle for Atlantis vs. 7-0 Gonzaga... 1PM

GAME 7 – Battle 4 Atlantis: No. 11 Oregon (6-0) vs. No. 8 Gonzaga (7-0)

Thursday, Nov. 28, 1:02 p.m. PT, ESPN

1 – Oregon’s longest active winning streak, 15 games, is against Gonzaga. It is a streak that dates back to the 1930-31 season. This will be the first meeting between the Ducks and Bulldogs since the 1999-00 season, when Oregon defeated Gonzaga 70-64 in Hawaii.

2 – The Ducks are 6-0 for the first time since the 2015-16 season.

3 – The Ducks are playing a unique stretch of five non-conference games against teams that were picked first or second in their respective preseason polls. That run includes Memphis (tie-1st, American Athletic), UT Arlington (2nd, Sun Belt), Houston (tie-1st, American Athletic), Seton Hall (1st, Big East) and Gonzaga (1st, West Coast).

4 – Now the winningest coach in Oregon history, Dana Altman is one of six active head coaches in NCAA Division I who have posted a winning record for the last 22 consecutive seasons. The other five, Mike Krzyzewski, Tom Izzo, Roy Williams, Bill Self and Jim Boeheim, are in the Hall of Fame.

5 – Payton Pritchard is now one of just two players in program history with 1,000 points, 500 assists and 400 rebounds, joining UO Hall of Famer Ron Lee. He also passed Luke Ridnour for third on the UO career assists list against Boise State.• BENCH – Oregon’s 2019 recruiting class was ranked fourth nationally, after being third in 2018. One member of that class – freshman C.J. Walker – scored a season-high 12 points Wednesday night against Seton Hall.

All Decade Team

I am seeing a lot of these lists start to pop up. Thought I would take a shot at my all decade Oregon team. For all the coaching turmoil, it is the greatest decade in Oregon football history . . . no question.

I limited my list to 11 players. I used 3 WRs, instead of 2 RBs or 2 TEs. And I should warn, my picks are not all based on statistics. This is just the team I would pick, if I was given the last 10 years of Ducks. (Yes, I know I have 4 tackles listed, but I'm pretty sure those guys could figure it out).

QB: Marcus Mariota
RB: LaMichael James
WR: Jeffrey Maehl
WR: Dillon Mitchell
WR: DeAnthony Thomas
TE: David Paulson
OL: Tyrell Crosby
OL: Penei Sewell
OL: Jake Fischer
OL: Hroniss Grasu
OL: Calvin Throckmorton

Second Team: Darron Thomas, Royce Freeman, Josh Huff, Dwayne Stanford, Lavasier Tuinei, Pharaoh Brown, Tyler Johnstone, Kyle Long, Jake Hanson, Carson York, Shane Lemieux, Mark Asper

With defense, I went with 4 defensive linemen (I took some liberties with DL/LB designation), 3 linebackers and 4 DBs.

DL: Arik Armstead
DL: DeForest Buckner
DL: Dion Jordan
DL: Jalen Jelks
LB: Kiko Alonso
LB: Michael Clay
LB:Troy Dye
DB: Ifo Ekpre-Olomu
DB: Terrance Mitchell
DB: John Boyett
DB: Erik Dargan

Second Team: Jordon Scott, Kenny Rowe, Taylor Hart, Tony Washington, Jr., Casey Matthews, Justin Hollins, Joe Walker, Cliff Harris, Troy Hill, Eddie Pleasant, Jevon Holland

There were a lot of other great players over the years I wanted to include. I really enjoyed watching them all. Going back through ChileDuck's depth chart over the years made me appreciate what a special decade it was . . . fun exercise.

2021 Clay Millen Wash. HS Update

Saw this from a Tweet on Bleacher R. Sounds like he's killing it in the HS playoffs and has plenty more time to develop.

2021 QB Clay Millen (6-3/191) Playoff Update:

RD 1- 466 yards and 6 TD passes against one of WA’s best defenses (was sacked 8 times). Beat 6-seed Chiawana 46-21.

RD 2- Threw for 2 TDs as 11-seed Mount Si stunned 3-seed Lake Stevens 24-22.

Semis- Sat at 2-seed Camas

Seton Hall Articles

"The Pirates (4-1) have gotten off to a good start, losing only a three-point game to No. 3 Michigan State, while blowing out their other four opponents. Powell, the Big East Preseason Player of the Year, is averaging a team-high 22.6 points per game. But he has plenty of help, with coach Kevin Willard going 10-deep so far. Seven players average at least 5.6 points per game, with Sandro Mamukelashvili (11.8) and Quincy McKnight (10.8) in double figures."

Capable of Final Four Run

"The pieces are in place for a season straight out of the P.J. Carlesimo era, led by senior guard Myles Powell — the program’s first AP preseason first team All-American — who is 831 points shy of Terry Dehere’s school scoring record. He’s joined by returning starters Sandro Mamukelashvili, Quincy McKnight and Myles Cale, and a deep and versatile supporting cast."

SILLY SEASON: FSU COACHING SEARCH

So, as a devout football junkie, I've been following the coaching searches and FSU and USC.

At FSU, it appears that Bob Stoops declined while Mark Stoops interviewed. After the interview, Mark was quoted as saying that he did not think that he was a candidate...that FSU was going "Big Game Hunting."

Names being bandied about include James Franklin, Matt Campbell, Mike Norvell and even Brian Kelly.

Other than Franklin and Kelly, the job would be a step up for those guys.

But, why would Franklin leave PSU for FSU? The only things that I can think of would be recruiting in Florida and that the only real competition would be Clemson.....not OSU, Michigan, etc.

And FSU has proven to me, at least, that the athletic department is pretty screwed up.
